We, Lindsay and Jef, would like to welcome you to our website. As you can see, it is dedicated to our dogs and the training and competitions we undertake. Next to Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, shortly called Tollers, we also have Golden Retrievers from working bloodlines. Our dogs are primarily bought for friendship and as a hobby. A hobby that started – as many people – in attending obedience classes at a dog school, and has now grown into a true passion.
After obedience training, our interest changed into the direction of gundog training and this clearly did not miss it’s target! In the meantime, all our Retrievers are trained as gundogs and are used for practical hunt. Aside from the hunting season, we regularly participate in Working Tests, go training in the field and attend training seminars.
So you can definitely say that our dogs get a solid chunk of education, training and excercise.
Of course they live and sleep inside our house and go walking every day, Retrievers are not a kennel dogs. Because we want to give each dog enough attention, we only keep a limited number of dogs.
And because of that, we only occasionally breed a litter. The dogs we use for breeding are our own dogs that meet our expectations in health and character. We do not work with host families or so-called "lease" females from other kennels.
It has been more than 10 years ago since we got our first retriever and we have now bred 2 beautiful litters. Our first litter was born in 2008 from our Golden Retriever Rossa, and our second litter (Tollers) dates from November 2009. It is obvious that our puppies are born and raised in the living room and that the necessary attention and socialization are provided.
All our dogs stay with us from the first time they enter our house until they quietly cross the rainbow bridge. Replacing dogs because they are no longer suitable for breeding is not out way of thinking. Our kennel name "Mayflower Dancer's refers to our love about Tollers, the first Retrieverbreed introduced into our family. The Mayflower is the official flower of Nova Scotia and "dancer's" turn refers to the playful behavior of the Toller that attracts ducks to the waterfront.
Have fun on our website!
Greetings Lindsay and Jef
